Coaching policy.

If you do not wish to have coaching for the entire season, you must let Coach Tigran know at the beginning of the season (after Summer Nationals) to be left out of the calculations for coaching fees for tournaments.

National and International Events

Swords Fencing Academy requires all fencers to have Swords coaching at a North American Cup (NAC), Junior Olympics, Summer Nationals, and International Events.

Coaching fees will be sent out soon after the close of registration for all national events. If your fencer is going to withdraw, you must let us know within the two days after the close of registration. If your fencer withdraws after the registration closes, you are still responsible for your coaching fees, as the amount is based on the number of fencers, and we cannot recalculate after the event has closed and the coaching fees amount has been sent out. If coaching fees are not paid before the tournament, there will be a $50 late fee charge.

Sectional (SYC, SJCC), Regional Events (RYC, RJC, RJCC), Open Local Tournament

All Swords fencers attending tournaments will be expected to pay coaching fees for those tournaments where there is coaching and will benefit from the coaches in attendance. An email will be sent out who would like to receive coaching on the upcoming tournament. If the fencers want coaching, they must respond to the email sent and coaching fees will be calculated on how many fencers are requesting coaching. No coaching will be given to fencers requesting coaching on the day of the event.

Independent Coaching Hired

Swords will not allow any independent coaching outside of Sword's Coaches and approved contracted coaches from Coach Tigran.

How Coaching Fees are determined

Coaching fees are determined by dividing the cost of coaches’ travel and hotel and the coaching itself among all of the Swords fencers attending the tournament. The number of coaches traveling to tournaments is determined by the number of fencers.

If payment is not received by the 10th day before the beginning of the tournament, on the 9th day before the tournament, the credit card on file will be charged for the coaching fee plus a $25 service charge.

Thank you for being a part of Swords and supporting our fencers and coaches. We look forward to continuing to provide the best coaching and we thank you all for participating and supporting the team spirit of Swords Fencing Studio.
